Network Administrator Certificate Program Fact Sheet


What is the Network Admin Certificate? The Network Administrator certificate provides basic training in computer information systems networking. Students are introduced to the basic concepts of network administration. Upon graduation students will be able to install, configure, and maintain networks using Windows networking software. The student is prepared to take the MCP (Microsoft Certified Professional) exam. Technical courses apply to the degree or diploma program in networking.
Semester Program Begins Fall, spring, and summer semester.
Application Process Apply to Gwinnett Technical College at GwinnettTech.edu, submit all transcripts from high school and previous college work, and take the ACCUPLACER test, if required.
Program Prerequisites Students applying for this program must be accepted into the Networking Specialist degree or diploma program.
Diploma level proficiency required to take CIST technical courses. Some courses may have additional prerequisites which are not included in the program curriculum. For specific prerequisites please refer to the course descriptions in the online catalog.
Program Deadlines You may enter in the fall, spring, or summer semesters.

Network and computer systems administrators work with the physical computer networks of a variety of organizations and therefore are employed in many industries.

Employment

Employment of network and computer systems administrators is projected to grow 8 percent from 2014 to 2024, about as fast as the average for all occupations. Demand for information technology workers is high and should continue to grow as firms invest in newer, faster technology and mobile networks.  Network administrator, LAN administrator, Microcomputer support specialist.

The median annual wage for network and computer systems administrators was $79,700 in May 2016.
