Interiors AAS Program Fact Sheet


What is Interiors? The Interiors Degree prepares students to begin successful careers in the field of interior design. The program includes courses in interiors and college-level general education courses.  Are you great at design planning, love Interior Design?  This is the program for you.  You will take courses in the principles and elements of design, textiles, history of architecture and furniture, drafting, perspective drawing, lighting, AutoCAD, Revit, codes, materials use, business and internship.  You will become involved in the design community immediately.  Hands on projects will allow you to experience your design talents.  Internship will provide application of knowledge to the field.

Prerequisite Courses

 

 

  1. FYES 1000  
  2. Degree level proficiency required to take degree level General Education courses.
  3. Diploma level proficiency required to take INDS technical courses. Please refer to course descriptions in the online catalog for specific prerequisites.
Length of Program Degree:  5 semesters minimum; 65 Semester Hours

16 years of age at the start of program (cannot take practicum/internship until 18)

Application Process Applicants to the Interiors program must meet all admission requirements: complete an application and pay the application fee. Individuals apply to Gwinnett Technical College at GwinnettTech.edu and submit all transcripts from high school and previous college work, and take the ACCUPLACER test, if required.
Program Deadlines You may enter in the fall, spring, or summer terms.

The ASID State of the Industry shows that Interior Design has fully recovered to pre-recession levels. The U.S Bureau of Labor Statistics and the U.S. Census reflect an 11.9% growth in the number of Interior Designers, 6% growth in Design firms and 8 to 9% growth in the construction industry. Interior Design is a strong growing sector. It is complex, changing, and accelerating as the building environment grows and changes.
