Drafting Technology AAS Program Fact Sheet


What is a Drafter? CAD-Operators, also known as drafters, are usually employed by manufacturing firms and construction companies. they use computer aided drafting programs to help provide technical drawing and blueprints of a product or structure being built. They may work with engineers, architects, and other professionals in producing plans and drawings. They add the dimensions, details, specialized notations, and symbols to convey instructions about the materials and assembly procedures required for the entire project’s completion. Successful drafters have a solid understanding of mathematics and science.

  2. Degree level proficiency required to take degree level General Education courses. Please refer to course descriptions in the online catalog for specific prerequisites.
Semester Program Begins Fall and spring semester
Application Process Applicants to the Drafting Technology degree program must meet all admission requirements; complete an application and pay the application fee. Individuals apply to Gwinnett Technical College at GwinnettTech.edu, submit all transcripts from high school and previous college work, and take the ACCPLACER test, if required.
