What is Interiors? |
The Interiors Program is designed to prepare students for employment in a variety of positions in today’s interiors field. The Interiors Program provides learning opportunities which introduce, develop, and reinforce academic and occupational knowledge, skills, and attitudes required for job acquisition, retention, and advancement. The knowledge and skills emphasized in this program include non-textile and textile use, materials usage; basic blueprint reading; codes, building systems; use of computers in drafting; communication with architects, contractors and clients; historical perspective of architecture; interior design fundamentals; selection and use of furniture and interior finishes; client presentations and business principles. Additionally, the program provides opportunities to upgrade present knowledge and skills or to retrain in the area of interiors. Required core classes give students a well-balanced foundation of English and math and allow students to expand their knowledge of Humanities, literature, and art. Electives allow the student to specialize according to career goals. Graduates of the program receive an Interiors diploma. |

Applicants to the Interiors program must meet all Admission requirements: complete an application and pay the application fee. Apply to Gwinnett Technical College at GwinnettTech.edu and submit all transcripts from high school and previous college work, and take the ACCUPLACER test, if required. |

The ASID State of the Industry shows that Interior Design has fully recovered to pre-recession levels. The U.S Bureau of Labor Statistics and the U.S. Census reflect an 11.9% growth in the number of Interior Designers, 6% growth in Design firms and 8 to 9% growth in the construction industry. Interior Design is a strong growing sector. It is complex, changing, and accelerating as the building environment grows and changes.
