Endoscope Reprocessing Technician Certificate Program


What is an Endoscope Reprocessing Technician?

 

Endoscope Reprocessing Technicians are vital to patient safety and infection control in healthcare settings.
Graduates are trained to operate sterilization equipment and manage sensitive medical instruments, including disassembly,
decontamination, sterilization, inspection, and reassembly of endoscopes.

Certifications

Program prepares students for the following certifications:

  • Endoscope Reprocessing: CER, CFER

Minimum Age Requirement Age 18 at the time program starts.
Length of Program 1 semester (8 weeks) 

Semester Program Begins

 

 

Summer Semester

•     Format: Hybrid (On-campus & Clinical) 
•     Class Times:

           •     Day: 1:00 p.m. - 4:00 p.m. | Clinical: 7:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m. 
           •    Evening: 5:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. | Clinical: 3:00 p.m. - 11:00 p.m. 

•     Class Schedule: Class on Tuesday and Thursday; Clinicals: Monday, Wednesday and Friday 
 

 

Admissions and Application Process

  1. Apply to Gwinnett Technical College at www.gwinnetttech.edu, submit all transcripts from high school and previous college work.

  2. Applicants must be CSPDT certified, or CRCST certified, or have a Central Processing Certificate from a TCSG College

  3. Take the ACCUPLACER test if required.

  4. All applicants are required to submit a program advisement form prior to the deadline: March 22. Forms are available here: http://www.gwinnettTech.edu/enrollment/forms-documents/

  5. Attend a mandatory post-deadline meeting. 

  6. Complete background check and drug screening; and immunizations form.

  7. Preference for GTC CS Certificate holders or relevant work experience 

Estimated Program Costs and Requirements

•     Background check & drug screen: $90 
•     Immunizations (incl. COVID-19): $200-$300 
•     BLS Certification: $50-$70 
•     Books: $85-$100 
•     Uniforms & Supplies: Varies 
•     GTC Student ID required

Endoscope Reprocessing Technicians are critical to infection prevention and patient safety. They ensure endoscopes and related equipment are properly cleaned, sterilized, and maintained according to strict industry standards.

Key Responsibilities 

•     Clean, disinfect, and reassemble endoscopes and accessories 
•     Maintain and operate sterilization equipment
