Engineering Technology AAS (Industrial) Program Fact Sheet

What is an Industrial Engineer?	Industrial engineering is a branch of engineering which deals with the optimization of complex processes, systems or organizations. Industrial engineers work to eliminate waste of time, money, materials, person-hours, machine time, energy and other resources that do not generate value. Industrial engineers, design new equipment or materials or recommend revision to methods of operation, material handling, equipment layout, or other changes to increase production or improve standards. Industrial engineers test selected products at specified stages in the production process for performance characteristics or adherence to specifications. They compile and evaluate statistical data to determine and maintain quality and reliability of products. They study time, motion, methods, or speed involved in maintenance, production, or other operations to establish standard production rate or improve efficiency. Industrial engineers interpret engineering drawings, schematic diagrams, or formulas for management or engineering staff.

Prerequisite Courses	FYES 1000 Degree level proficiency required to take degree level General Education courses. Please refer to course descriptions in the online catalog for specific prerequisites. MATH 1111 , College Algebra is required to take the technical courses unless exempted due ot test results or transfer credit.
Length of Program	Degree: 5 semesters 66 Credit hours
Semester Program Begins	Fall, spring and summer
Application Process	Applicants to the Engineering Technology degree program must meet all Admission requirements; complete an application and pay the application fee. Individuals apply to Gwinnett Technical College at GwinnettTech.edu, submit all transcripts from high school and previous college work, and take the ACCUPLACER test, if required.
Program Deadlines	You may enter in the fall, spring, or summer terms.
