BTEC 2225 - Clinical Research Design and Statistics Prerequisite: BTEC 1110 Corequisite: BTEC 2241 An introduction to foundations of probability and statistical theory as they apply to clinical research practitioners. Topics include: the concepts of error and variability in data; the normal distribution and its assumptions and dangers on use; the computation of basic population parameters and sample statistics, including measures of central tendency and variability; applicable measures of statistical significance and hypothesis testing; the interpretation of research data; basics of clinical research design, including commonly used parametric designs, when specific designs are applicable, and the strengths and weaknesses of specific designs; and how the clinical research professional can collect data to minimize error and variability in data.
