RNSG 1107 - Concepts of Mental Health Nursing


Prerequisite: RNSG 1101 , RNSG 1102   
Corequisite: RNSG 1106  
This course prepares the nursing student in planning and providing compassionate, effective, evidenced-based nursing care to clients with mental and neurobehavioral disorders. Emphasis is placed on health promotion, restoration, and maintenance of the client in inpatient and outpatient mental health facilities. Concepts of mental health nursing will be applied through the nursing process to the care of the adult client with acute and/or chronic mental health problems, incorporating essential nursing science, biophysical, psychosocial, spiritual, and cultural principles. Supervised clinical simulations and inpatient/outpatient hospital experiences will provide the student opportunities to meet course competency outcomes.  Students enrolled in this course will be assessed a $82.50 cost recovery course fee in addition to tuition and fees.  Fees are subject to change at the end of any semester.
