Paramedicine Accelerated Certificate

Program Description

The paramedic accelerated certificate at Gwinnett Technical College is designed to provide students with the skills and knowledge necessary to work as a paramedic in emergency medical services. The program combines classroom lectures, hands-on training, and clinical experience to prepare students for the challenges of the job. Throughout the program, students will learn about anatomy and physiology, pharmacology, patient assessment, and emergency medical procedures. They will also gain experience in administering advanced life support, performing intubations, and managing medical emergencies such as cardiac arrest, trauma, and respiratory distress. The program is taught by experienced paramedics and medical professionals who provide students with valuable insights and real-world scenarios. Students will also participate in clinical rotations in hospitals and ambulance services to gain hands-on experience in a real-world setting. Upon completion of the program, students will be eligible to take the National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians (NREMT) Paramedic certification exam. With this certification, graduates will be qualified to work as paramedics in a variety of settings, including ambulance services, hospitals, and fire departments. The paramedic TCC program at Gwinnett Technical College is an intensive program that requires dedication and hard work. However, it provides students with the skills and knowledge they need to succeed in a rewarding career in emergency medical services.

Entrance Requirements

In addition to the standard college entrance requirements, those applying to the paramedicine accerated certificate program must hold current certification and/or licensure as an: EMT I/85 (with successful completion of Georgia State Office of Emergency Medical Services and Trauma (SOEMST) EMTI to AEMT update course); EMT I/99; or AEMT. Criminal background checks and drug screens are required based on the requirements for participation in clinical experiences. Please see the program form at http://www.gwinnetttech.edu/enrollment/forms-documents/ for additional information.
