What is Barbering for Cosmetologists? |
The Barbering for Cosmetologist Technical Certificate allows the student who holds a current Master Cosmetology license to receive additional training that will qualify the student to take the examination for Barbering. Learning opportunities develop academic and professional knowledge and skills required for job acquisition, retention, and advancement. The program emphasizes specialized training in safety, sanitation, hair treatments and manipulations, haircutting techniques, shaving, skincare, reception, sales, and management. The curriculum meets state licensing requirements of the Georgia State Board of Barbering. The program graduate receives a Barbering diploma and is employable as a barber, salon/shop manager, or salon/shop owner. At the completion of the program, the student will receive a technical certificate of credit and participate in the State Barber Board Examination, which has the authority to grant a Master Barbering license.

Application Process |
Applicants to the Barbering for Cosmetologist Program must meet all admission requirements; complete an application; and pay the application fee. Individuals apply to Gwinnett Technical College at gwinnetttech.edu, submit all transcripts from high school and previous college work, submit valid Georgia Master Cosmetology license, and take the ACCUPLACER test, if required.
