Magnetic Resonance Imaging Specialist Certificate Program Fact Sheet

An MRI specialist performs diagnostic imaging examinations using magnetic resonance imaging. Candidates for this program must be a registered Radiologic Technologist, registered Radiation Therapist, registered Sonographer, or registered Nuclear Medicine Technologist in good standing. Two semesters; Program courses must be taken in sequence within the prescribed time frame.

Fall semester; Class time: Online; Clinic time: 2-4 days/week

1. Apply to Gwinnett Technical College at GwinnettTech.edu and submit all transcripts from high school and previous college work.
2. Submit an MRI/CT Advisement Form to Josh Vejar, Program Specialist, Building 200, Room 213.
3. Submit transcripts showing completion of a Radiography, Radiation Therapy, Sonography, or Nuclear Medicine program.
4. Submit proof of active ARRT status (R, N, T, or S) or active NMTCB status (CNMT) or active ARDMS (Abd or OB/Gyn).
5. Applicants meeting criteria are accepted on a first come, first serve basis.

Candidates for this program must be a registered Radiologic Technologist, registered Radiation Therapist, registered Sonographer, or registered Nuclear Medicine Technologist in good standing.

For Fall semester admission, all application steps must be completed by May 20. An MRI/CT Advisement Form must be completed with the Enrollment Support Center on the Lawrenceville or Alpharetta-North Fulton Campus and turned into Josh Vejar, Program Specialist, Building 200, Room 213.

1. A complete background check and drug screen must be completed. This is through an agency approved by Gwinnett Tech and will cost approximately $80.
2. Proof of appropriate immunizations must be supplied to Gwinnett Tech.
3. MR safety screening must be completed.

Uniform scrubs, shoes, books, liability insurance, criminal background checks and drug screening, immunizations for hospital clinicals, and ARRT testing fee. All costs are approximated and are subject to change.
