Interior Design Assistant Certificate Program Fact Sheet


What is Interior Design Assistant? The Interior Design Assistant Certificate emphasizes a combination of interior design theory and practical application necessary for successful employment. Technical courses apply to the Degree or Diploma program in Interiors.

Prerequisite Courses
  1. FYES 1000  
  2. Diploma level proficiency in English and reading required to take INDS technical courses. Please refer to course descriptions in the online catalog for specific prerequisites.
  3. High school diploma or GED and must be at least 16 years of age before enrolling in INDS 1100.
Semester Program Begins Fall, spring or summer
Application Process Applicants to the Interior Design Assistant program must meet all admission requirements; complete an application and pay the application fee.  Individuals apply to Gwinnett Technical College at GwinnettTech.edu and submit all transcripts from high school and previous college work, and take the ACCUPLACER test, if required.
Program Deadlines Students may enter in the Fall, spring, or summer terms.

The Asid State of the industry shows that interior design has fully recovered to pre-recession levels. The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics and the U.S. Census reflect an 11.9% growth in the number of Interior Designers, 6% growth in Design firms and 8 to 9% in the construction industry. Interior design is a strong growing sector. It is complex, changing, and accelerating as the building environment grows and changes.
