CIST 2411 - Microsoft Client Corequisite: CIST 1401 This course provides students with the skills to deploy, configure, secure, manage, and troubleshoot modern Microsoft Windows client operating systems in standalone and enterprise network environments. Emphasis is placed on Windows 11, including integration with cloud‑based Microsoft services such as Azure Active Directory, Microsoft Intune, and Microsoft Endpoint Manager. Students will learn installation and upgrade strategies, device imaging, policy configuration, authentication management, and system performance optimization. Additional topics include user and group administration, file and printer services, BitLocker and security baselines, remote management tools (PowerShell, Remote Desktop, MMC), and advanced troubleshooting methodologies. Hands‑on labs guide students through real‑world tasks such as configuring networking, managing Windows updates, implementing endpoint security controls, deploying applications, and analyzing system logs for diagnostics. The course prepares students for roles in desktop support, systems administration, and managed enterprise environments, and supports current Microsoft certification pathways related to Windows client administration. Note: Students enrolled in this course will be assessed a $177.50 cost recovery fee in addition to tuition and fees. Fees can change at the end of the semester. Contact hours: Class - 2, Lab - 4.
