CIST 2414 - Microsoft Server Administrator Prerequisite: CIST 2412 This advanced course prepares students to configure, secure, and optimize Windows Server workloads in hybrid and cloud‑connected environments. Building on the foundational skills from CIST 2412 and CIST 2413, students learn to implement advanced Windows Server services across on‑premises datacenters, Azure-integrated infrastructures, and mixed enterprise environments. Key focus areas include advanced identity services, certificate management, name resolution solutions, and secure access configuration. Students will implement and manage advanced storage capabilities, including Storage Spaces, SMB configurations, file server clustering, and hybrid file services. The course covers network load balancing, failover clustering, and high‑availability solutions for enterprise workloads. Students gain hands‑on experience configuring disaster recovery and business continuity through Azure Site Recovery, Azure Backup, Hyper‑V Replica, and server migration tools. Additional topics include performance monitoring, diagnostics, automation with PowerShell, Windows Admin Center, and orchestrating hybrid workloads across multiple sites. The course aligns fully with the Microsoft AZ‑801: Configuring Windows Server Hybrid Advanced Services certification objectives and prepares students for modern roles in enterprise server administration, cloud‑enabled infrastructure operations, and hybrid systems engineering. Note: Students enrolled in this course will be assessed a $116.88 cost recovery fee in addition to tuition and fees. Fees can change at the end of the semester. Contact hours: Class - 2, Lab - 4. Credit hours: 4 (E)
