SOCI 1120 - Introduction to Medical Sociology


Prerequisite: Degree level proficiency in English and reading
Explores the sociological analysis of society, its culture, and structure. This course largely focuses on issues concerning health and illness in American society as well as societies around the world. Topics include basic sociological concepts, socialization, social stratification, the history of healthcare and medicine from a world view and the United States, epidemiology, medical education, medical research methodology, ethical concerns, and mental health and illness, among others.
