Program Description
The Central Processing Technician certificate will be a two-semester program with 29 credit hours including pre-requisites. Students should complete prerequisite courses the first semester and central sterile supply processing (CSSP) courses the second semester. Program students will learn how to prevent infections by decontaminating, cleaning, processing, assembling, sterilizing, storing, and distributing the medical devices, instruments, and supplies needed in patient care, especially during surgery. This program prepares students to take the Certified Registered Central Service Technician (CRCST) exam or the Certified Sterile Processing Department Technician (CSPDT) exam. (Program Length: 2 Semester Minimum)
