What is Game Development? |
The game development diploma is a sequence of courses designed to provide students with an understanding of the concepts, principles, and techniques required in the development of computer games. Program graduates receive a gaming development diploma. |

Application Process |
Applicants to the Game Development program must meet all admission requirements; complete an application and pay the application fee. Individuals apply to Gwinnett Technical College at GwinnettTech.edu and submit all transcripts from high school and previous college work, and take the ACCUPLACER test, if required. |
Program Prerequisites |
Diploma level proficiency in English, reading, and math. Please refer to course descriptions in the online catalog for specific prerequisites. |

Nature of the Work
Game Developers are the creative minds behind computer games. They develop video games, game levels, avatars, worlds, etc.
Work Environment
Many developers work for firms that deal in computer systems design and related services or for software publishers.
Employment
Employment of software developers is projected to grow 25 percent from 2022 to 2032, much faster than the average for all occupations. The main reason for the rapid growth is a large increase in the demand for computer software.
Earnings
The median annual wage for software developers, applications was $127,260 in May 2022.
