PHOT 1016 - Lighting & Studio Practices


Prerequisite: PHOT 1011  and PHOT 1012  
This foundation course introduces the use of artificial photographic light sources and professional studio practices for product and still life subjects. The course provides a basic understanding of the aesthetic, technical, theoretical, and conceptual use of light as a means for creative control. An emphasis is placed on lighting principles for a variety of subjects in a controlled studio environment. Students will gain knowledge of controlled use of artificial light sources that include professional continuous and strobe equipment and modifiers, along with tethered digital capture, mixed lighting, hand held meters and color-managed workflow. Skill development is emphasized through lecture, demonstration activities, and studio laboratory assignments. Students registered for this course will be assessed a $175 supply fee in addition to tuition and fees.  Fees are subject to change at the end of the semester. Contact hours: Class - 1, Lab - 5.
