PHOT 2314 - Photojournalism Prerequisite: PHOT 1011 and PHOT 1012 This course explores the challenging environment of the photojournalist and the link with media and culture. Students encounter the demands of capturing an accurate and fair portrayal of news events as they unfold for contemporary newspapers, magazines, books and online outlets. Various categories of photojournalism, including spot, general & feature news, environmental portraits, along with lifestyle, culture, travel, and sports stories will be investigated. The technical, aesthetic, journalistic and interpersonal skills and techniques of narrative, storytelling approaches for still and video photography will be examined. Students registered for this course will be assessed a $175 supply fee in addition to tuition and fees. Fees are subject to change at the end of the semester. Contact hours: Class - .67, Lab 3.4.
