Program Description
The automotive fundamentals diploma program is a sequence of courses designed to prepare students for careers in the automotive service and repair profession. Students will be provided opportunities to develop academic, technical, and professional knowledge and skills required for job acquisition, retention, and advancement. The program emphasizes a combination of automotive mechanics theory, and practical applications necessary for successful employment. Program graduates receive an automotive fundamentals diploma.
The automotive fundamentals diploma program is offered only during the evening schedule. (Prerequisites: Students encouraged to acquire a personal set of hand tools)
Students may become certified by taking the ASE (Automotive Service Excellence) certification tests administered in eight areas by ACT (American College Testing). (Program Length: 4 Semesters)
Employment Opportunities
Employment opportunities include but are not limited to a general automotive technician, basic automotive service technician, brake and front end specialist, air conditioning and electrical specialist, computer systems specialist, engine performance specialist, service advisor, service writer, and parts attendant.
