Business Technology AAS Program Fact Sheet


What is Business Technology?

The Business Technology program is a sequence of courses designed to prepare students to provide administrative support within a variety of offices. Knowledge of clerical procedures and systems such as word processing, managing files and records, designing forms, and other office procedures and terminology are covered in this program.

Tasks:

  • Prepare invoices, reports, memos, letters, financial statements, and other documents, using word processing, spreadsheet, database, or presentation software.
  • Answer phone calls and direct calls to appropriate parties or take messages.
  • Conduct research, compile data, and prepare papers for consideration and presentation by executives, committees, and boards of directors.
  • Attend meetings to record minutes.
  • Greet visitors and determine whether they should be given access to specific individuals.

Prerequisite Courses
  1. Degree level proficiency required to take degree level General Education courses. Please refer to course descriptions in the online catalog for specific prerequisites.
  2. FYES 1000   (prerequisite for most BUSN courses)
  3. Students who do not type at least 25 words per minute will be advised to take BUSN 1100  their first semester.

Application Process Applicants to the Business Technology program must meet all Admission requirements: complete an application and pay the application fee. Individuals apply to Gwinnett Technical College at GwinnettTech.edu, submit all transcripts from high school and previous college work, and take the ACCUPLACER test, if required.
